SKIPPER - INTENSIVE - TRAINING

- The intensive training for practiced skipper and those who want to be!

To lead a yacht with a steady hand means:

Based on your knowledge and information you have to make decisions. These must be expressed and the conversion organised and controlled.

In these special training days you improve your nautical competence, you gain experience (maybe under unknowen conditions), you work on desicion-making, communication, organisation and your skills to monitor.

The training  lasts 4 days and nights non-stop. So every attendant has the chance to play every role : wachleader, navigator, deckhand, helmsman and cook. Also we head for many bays and harbours at day and at night. Picture Gallery!

The program:

• Sailing at night: The training starts in the evening. For every skipper sailing at night should be common.4 nights we have the chance to train safe navigation at night with and without modern additives as well as approaching harbours and bays.
• Approaching: Together we develop the creteria how to select a bay or harbour to approach at day and night, Sometimes that gives us the chance to taste the local kitchen in a typical restaurant!
• Navigation: In times of GPS other navigational methods slowly fade away. A low battery or electronical error brings us back to the terrestric navigation !
• Maneouvers under power and anchoring: Berthing and casting off in various conditions is part of the training for every attendant. But what's the wachleader's job? YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE! You have to find a safe berth in bad conditions and you command the tasks. What's the helmsman's job? You train the practical components. You will do all jobs plenty of times. All maneouvers will be discussed so we can learn from our mistakes and success.
• Planning a trip: The question is how to plan a week on a sailing boat.Which parameter do I have to consider? The route depends on the weather and expected winds, on the expectations and toughness of your crew and many other things. We have to be aware of not having a weatherforecast for a whole week and we need some deliberate options. You develope a plan, together we will reflect it!
• Heavy weather: We can not guarantee strong winds, but in fact it is as important to prepare your crew and material for heavy weather as leading the yacht competently in such conditions. This and the choice of the right berth will be worked out.

Price:

The price of € 680,--* includes:

• Your bunk on the SY "AUSTRINA". She is a Vanguard 49 made of steel, offshore equiped. The bunk is ready at 1800, a few hours later we start the training and depart in the dark...

• The trainer

• Food basics for 4 days. Fresh food we buy on the way. This is payed in equal parts, as well by the trainer.

• Fuel

That means except your journey, berthing fees (which are minimal), and some fresh food you won't pay anything extra.
